I am sitting in my favorite reading chair, having just finished law school assignments and edits on another short story in the Chanclas & Aliens universe, which I like to call the Choloverse. Yesterday was a typical Saturday for me: rushing to get discussion posts done, chatting with my group on our project for Health Law & Policy class, and building a new worktable/bakers rack for my baking stuff. The professional KitchenAid now has its own home. Seeing it set up made me want to bake, but L.A. is going through yet another stupid heatwave.
Do heatwaves not know I would like to bake a goddamned pie????
Law School remains alternately a “What the hell did you do to yourself?” or a “holy cats, learning this is so damned cool!” kinda thing. I am now an expert (in my mind) at laying out proper IRAC format and issue-spotting; a far cry from my beginner days when I wanted to cry and quit for the first four weeks, before it gelled and became comprehensible.
Work is awesome. Love my job – something I rarely have been able to say in my career. It sounds sappy, but it is completely true. I love getting up and heading to work in the morning, even after three years. Go figure.
Home is good. My office is laid out how I love it. I’ve found more places to cram books into and made room by hauling out the old worktable and replacing it with the new one. Freed up some closet space, took pantry inventory, and cleaned that out. All is neat, orderly, and documented, which makes my obsessive little heart so very happy.
Till the next update…
